Glow Stick Fundraiser at the Haunted Forest Walk
In the fall of 2023, our club sold lots of glow-sticks at the Haunted Forest Walk offered by the Woodridge Park District in late October. A crowd waited in a long line for their hay wagon ride to meet the scary creatures in the forest.
Peanuts Fundraiser
During the fall the club usually sells boxes of peanuts to raise money and to support Operation Support Our Troops-IL. Businesses and individuals have supported this fundraiser over the years.
Kiwanis Raffle at the Brewery
In the past our club held two events at the Skeleton Key Brewery, called Kiwanis Raffle at the Brewery, to raise money to support both local and international efforts that benefit children. One year this event also celebrated the 60th Woodridge Village anniversary and the 50th Woodridge Park District anniversaries. Raffle tickets sold included one chance for a large raffle prize and a donation towards both local and international organizations that assist children. Scholarships for Downers Grove South Key Club Members
Our club has offered scholarships to members of the Downers Grove Key Club, a Kiwanis affiliated club at the Downers Grove South High School, who showed exemplary community service participation and had a good academic record. Recent scholarships are now named the Jennifer Blaszczak / Black Memorial Scholarships. Recipients use their scholarships at colleges and universities pursuing various fields of study.
Other Recipients
Our club supports the Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation with an annual donation. This organization does research to either find a cure or improve the quality of life of children and patients afflicted by a disease of the nervous system.
We have supported the Live Like Mike organization in the Woodridge community.
